Alexis Mac Allister
Alexis Mac Allister hails from a footballing family — his father, uncle, and two older brothers all played professionally. Like his siblings, he began at Club Social y Deportivo Parque, whose alumni include Carlos Tevez and Diego Maradona.
Upon turning 18, Mac Allister moved to Argentinos Juniors, making his debut in October 2016. He helped the club win promotion as champions that season and spent three years there before agreeing a move to Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2019.
As part of the transfer, he returned to Argentinos Juniors on loan for the remainder of 2018–19, then joined Boca Juniors on a season‑long loan in 2019–20. He scored on his Boca debut, and impressive performances in both the Argentine Primera División and Copa Libertadores saw Brighton recall him at the end of the January 2020 window.
Mac Allister was gradually introduced to Brighton’s first team, making his debut in March 2020 — the club’s last game until June, as the season was suspended by the COVID‑19 pandemic. When play resumed, he became indispensable over the next three seasons, earning a reputation for vision, movement, and tenacity in midfield.
In summer 2023, Liverpool’s interim sporting director Jörg Schmadtke activated his £35 million release clause. Since then, Mac Allister has been one of the Reds’ first‑picked midfielders and is widely regarded as among the Premier League’s finest in his position.
