Andrew Robertson
Andrew Robertson began his youth career at his boyhood club, Celtic, where he spent a year but was released in 2015 for being deemed too small. He then moved to Queen’s Park, making his professional debut there and amassing 40 appearances.
In 2013, Robertson signed for Dundee United and enjoyed a standout season, earning the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award and a place in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year. His final outing came in a Scottish Cup Final defeat to St Johnstone before he secured a £2.85 million move to Hull City in July 2014.
Robertson quickly established himself at Hull but could not prevent relegation to the Championship. He stayed on and helped the club win the Championship play‑off final a season later, only to suffer Premier League relegation again in 2017.
In July 2017, Robertson joined Liverpool for £8 million. The move was criticized—after two relegations at Hull—by fans who questioned the club’s ambition. Under Jürgen Klopp, he had a gradual introduction but soon cemented himself as first‑choice left‑back.
At Anfield, Robertson has become one of Liverpool’s finest ever full‑backs and is regarded among the best left‑backs in Premier League history. His marauding runs down the flank have yielded the second‑most assists ever by a defender in the competition, behind only Trent Alexander‑Arnold.
Under new manager Arne Slot, Robertson has struggled for form, though he added a second Premier League winners’ medal to his collection. With the manager likely to seek an upgrade in that position, Robertson will be eager to rediscover his best form and retain his place in the team.
