Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones is a local Scouse player, having joined the Liverpool Academy aged nine. He rose through the ranks and made his U‑23 debut in January 2018, signing his first professional contract the following month. Jones featured primarily on the left wing in youth football and appeared on the first‑team matchday squad once—against Everton in 2018—but did not make his senior debut that season.

Jones featured prominently in the 2018–19 pre‑season and made his first‑team debut in an FA Cup match against Wolves. His next outing came in a Carabao Cup tie against MK Dons, where he was named man of the match. He then scored the winning penalty to eliminate Arsenal from the competition and made his Premier League debut against Bournemouth in December 2018.

In January 2020, Jones announced himself with a 20‑yard curling stunner against Everton in the FA Cup—becoming the youngest Merseyside derby scorer since Robbie Fowler in 1994. A month later, he captained Liverpool’s youngest‑ever side in an FA Cup replay at Shrewsbury Town.

In July 2020, Curtis signed a new long‑term contract and has since become a valuable squad member in the centre of Liverpool’s midfield. He credits his decision to stay and fight for his place—rather than going out on loan—as pivotal to his development under the first‑team manager. His composure on the ball and eye for goal have cemented his reputation, though unfortunate injuries have so far prevented a consistent run in the starting eleven.
