Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai began his career in the youth team of his local club, Fehérvár FC, aged six. A year later he joined Főnix Gold, where he stayed until 2015, and at aged fifteen moved to MTK Budapest in his country’s capital. He remained there for one season before returning to Főnix Gold for another year.

In 2017, Szoboszlai entered the Red Bull Football Group, joining FC Liefering, the reserve team of Red Bull Salzburg, playing in the Austrian second division. After one season in the development side, he was promoted to Salzburg’s first‑team, quickly becoming a key player and winning a league‑and‑cup double in every campaign. He was voted the Austrian Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2019–20.

Szoboszlai moved to fellow Red Bull club RB Leipzig in January 2021 for a reported €20 million. He could not make his debut until the following season due to injury; in August 2021, he scored three minutes into his first appearance and added two more goals less than two weeks later.

His form in Germany and for Hungary caught Liverpool’s eye, and in July 2023 the Reds triggered his €60 million release clause. He immediately impressed at Anfield, his fitness, running power, and affinity for scoring long‑range goals making him a fan favourite. He won his first Liverpool silverware in the 2024 Carabao Cup—though he was injured for the final; however, under Arne Slot, Szoboszlai has thrived in a more advanced midfield role, playing a starring part as Liverpool secured the 2024–25 Premier League title and becoming the first Hungarian ever to do so.
