Tyler Morton

Tyler Morton is a local‑player from Wallasey, Merseyside, who joined Liverpool’s Academy aged seven—turning down rivals Everton in the process. He first appeared for the U‑18s during the 2019–20 season, scoring on his debut in a 6 – 1 victory against Everton. The following season, he remained with the U‑18s while also featuring regularly for the U‑23s, netting ten goals across both sides and playing a key role in Liverpool’s run to the FA Youth Cup Final.

In January 2021, he signed a new long‑term contract and made his senior debut in a pre‑season friendly against Wacker Innsbruck. Morton’s professional debut came in a Carabao Cup tie at Norwich City in September 2021, and later that campaign he made his Premier League and Champions League debuts.

In August 2022, Morton joined Blackburn Rovers on loan in the Championship, impressing over 46 appearances. He then spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Hull City, where his form earned him the EFL Young Player of the Month award in December 2023 and 41 appearances in total.

Liverpool resisted interest from clubs such as Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta to keep Morton at Anfield for the 2024–25 season. He has featured sporadically under Arne Slot; however, there is no doubt about his talent and dedication, and his bright future—whether at his boyhood club or beyond—looks assured.
